EMIT is the nation’s first graduate certificate program in multimessenger astronomy, and it’s unique because we work on fostering a safe, healthy and vibrant community by infusing these values in everything we do.
With new windows opened on the Universe, multimessenger astronomy has arrived, and with it, a once in a lifetime opportunity to launch a new field. With deliberate attention to training an excellent graduate cohort, we aim to seed this emerging field with a critical mass of leaders who will spread our values and achieve better science.
We bring together experts from engineering, mathematics, physics, astronomy, communication science, data science, and broadening access to collaborate on research that enables multimessenger astronomy.
We also have an innovative training ethos: respecting and exploring identity, building community, and raising one another up is as important as domain knowledge.
